Games-ed mock feedback

What grade did you get?

D-   or   24/32
M=22
D=25
D*=28
I lost overall marks on the SWOT analysis by only getting 14/20 losing a large portion of marks.

Give two reasons why this links to your overall grade
Overall I am happy with my grading on questions however on questions such as 'Explain two ways that the age of the target audience could affect the design and game play of the game'  this question being worth 6 marks I only gained 4, the lost two marks would've secured the distinction mark. Another question that I felt I let myself down over is the SWOT analysis this question is worth 20 marks however I only received 14 marks the 6 marks I lost were crucial to securing the D and even gaining a D* which was 4 marks away.

What stage of production would a SWOT analysis be conducted? and why.
The SWOT analysis would be conducted in the pre production stage so the negative and positive aspects can be avoided and aided with further planning stages.

STRENGTHS

  • Games ED specialise in creative games meaning skills and experience
  • Gap in the market for educational games (mention competitors)

WEAKNESS
  • Gameplay and design being simple enough for the audience, make suggestions, E.G showing locations they recognise such as the park or school.

OPPUTUNITIES
  • Branch out and evolve into a multiplayer game or website, this could leave to new markets and a bigger mass audience e.g making it available for schools to download.
THREATS
  • Timescales, you need to think about the coding, designing, pre-production and realistic time scales.
  • Only appeal to young audiences, niche audience and not the game of choice for the children as they would prefer to play games such as Fortnite.
  • Only available on touch enable devices
  • Audience feedback delays, if the focus group docent like your product you have to start over making the product this making the deadline longer and unpredictable.
INCLUDE WHY ITS A S W O T, produce suggestions.
