LO3 Production Schedules

LO3 Production Schedules

A production schedule is used to organise time efficiently whilst creating a project, it can also be used to list and plan activities.

Features of a production schedule

  • Time Frame
  • Tasks
  • Contingency
  • Milestone
  • Equipment list
The managing director would make the productions schedule as they would be in charge of organising the project and it would fit in with their job roles

Effective features
  1. Visually effective
  2. Clear and fast to read
  3. The whole production team understand and use it
  4. It gives rough guidelines of how long the task should take this indicates the detail that should be produced
  5. Cost effective
  6. Factors in contingencies this ensures the schedule stays on track
  7. Adaptability
  8. Team roles identified

Ineffective Features

  1. Time frames and milestones need to be realistic and adaptable so not to delay launch date
  2. Tasks need to be clear and informative
  3. If no backup is saved it can be easily lost
  4. The schedule has to be shared around and accessed otherwise its ineffective e.g having it on a accessible data base such as OneDrive.
  5. Doesn't consider legal & ethical issues.
NEEDS TO INCLUDE OTHER DOCUMENTS SUCH AS VISUALISATION DIAGRAMS

Client requires and Audiences

Games-ed mock feedback

What grade did you get?

D-   or   24/32
M=22
D=25
D*=28
I lost overall marks on the SWOT analysis by only getting 14/20 losing a large portion of marks.

Give two reasons why this links to your overall grade
Overall I am happy with my grading on questions however on questions such as 'Explain two ways that the age of the target audience could affect the design and game play of the game'  this question being worth 6 marks I only gained 4, the lost two marks would've secured the distinction mark. Another question that I felt I let myself down over is the SWOT analysis this question is worth 20 marks however I only received 14 marks the 6 marks I lost were crucial to securing the D and even gaining a D* which was 4 marks away.

What stage of production would a SWOT analysis be conducted? and why.
The SWOT analysis would be conducted in the pre production stage so the negative and positive aspects can be avoided and aided with further planning stages.

STRENGTHS

  • Games ED specialise in creative games meaning skills and experience
  • Gap in the market for educational games (mention competitors)

WEAKNESS
  • Gameplay and design being simple enough for the audience, make suggestions, E.G showing locations they recognise such as the park or school.

OPPUTUNITIES
  • Branch out and evolve into a multiplayer game or website, this could leave to new markets and a bigger mass audience e.g making it available for schools to download.
THREATS
  • Timescales, you need to think about the coding, designing, pre-production and realistic time scales.
  • Only appeal to young audiences, niche audience and not the game of choice for the children as they would prefer to play games such as Fortnite.
  • Only available on touch enable devices
  • Audience feedback delays, if the focus group docent like your product you have to start over making the product this making the deadline longer and unpredictable.
INCLUDE WHY ITS A S W O T, produce suggestions.

LO1 - Ethical Issues

Ethical Issues

Issues that revolve around people and the morals involved, making sure the media product is accessible to an audience regardless of their age, ethnicity, gender, beliefs, disabilities, sexuality,
It surrounds not being discriminatory and doesn't cause offense or disturb those who use it.

e.g. of an ethical issue
  • not being selected for a job due to maternity/pregnancy
  • sexist comments in the workplace
  • using offensive materials/disturbing content. e.g images,words
  • ensuring access to all, having multiple languages, changeable font size
POTENTIONAL EXAM QUESTION : identify and explain a potentional ethical issue based on the brief  (3)
What 3 ASOS ethical issues have they addressed
  1. A variety of ethnicity/races - expanding the mass audience
  2. A variety of body images - important to the brand due to a bigger profit/mass audience if a larger variety of women are buying their clothes
  3. A variety of styles and promoting individuality
HOWEVER
The woman on the left is very striking however she's standing out due to her differing facial expressions to the rest of the models and the animals print that she is wearing could be connoted as racist

SCENARIO
An educational video game aimed at 8-12 year olds about healthy eating.
ethical issues that we need to address
  1. different race characters - characters featured in the game are of different ethnicities
  2. different nations cuisines shown in the game - when food is shown not only European meals are shown
  3. a variety of disability characters in the game - characters featured in the game are of different disabilities
  4. different body imaged characters featured in the game are of different body images
  5. simplistic language so the children could understand how to play the game,
  6. making sure the use of images aren't too explicit

Ethically why was this image banned? (ASA regulatory board)

Some have argued that the young actress who is holding a phallic symbol (the flower) between her legs is being subjected as a sex icon, the model who is 15 years old is underage for sex is almost advertising the perfume to young audiences to lose their virginities

If you do not adhere to ethical issues your product can be;
  • Banned
  • Impacting reputation
  • Loss of revenue
  • Lawsuits
